Good Morning Everyone

We’re thinking about God’s grace this morning. Is it amazing or annoying? Let’s pray that Matthew 20:1-16 will teach us afresh to be amazed by grace and not annoyed by it.

Here’s a prayer to help prepare us to hear God’s word:

God of grace, give us grace to see our need of grace; give us grace to ask for grace; give us grace to receive grace, and give us grace to give grace to others. Amen.

With love in Jesus, our gracious Lord
Paul.

“…the last will be first, and the first… .” (Matthew 20:16)

Please pray for our mission partners –

holding the rope this week for the Zam Suans, working in Myanmar. Pray for their Country following the dreadful earthquake. Pray for the Church in its mission, and pray for their children.

Last Thursday the Zam Suans told us that “… looking at the devastation of the earthquake is heartbreaking. As a family and as a church we are not in a position to go ourselves to the troubled areas. However, we have been able to send funds to a like-minded local missionary in southern Shan State and to an Evangelical Baptist Church in Mandalay to help with relief efforts and sharing the hope of Jesus with people there”.

People who live around the church in South Dagon are struggling for their basic needs; food, water and shelter. They used to have one hour of electricity a day but now are getting none most days. With the lack of electricity, which is the result of damaged power lines, comes the inability to pump water up from their wells. We have been able to use the new church generator to pump water from our well, fill up the baptistry and offer water to people in need.

We were also able to offer church members the chance to charge their phones, power banks and rechargeable lights while the generator was running.

These things seem insignificant, but it does help to improve relationships with the community around the church,  show the love of Jesus to them and help meet some physical needs.

An American counsellor visiting the Sam Suans recently described Tuangpi as “… a church-planting pastor in Myanmar through biblical counselling. His struggles with anxiety were not just theoretical; they were shaped by the sounds of gunfire, government crackdowns, and the weight of shepherding a flock in a war zone…”

Pray –

  • “for Myanmar – for people to know the salvation that’s only found in Jesus Christ
  • “that the church will be ‘a beacon of light’ in that Buddhist neighbourhood; and that God will give them growth both spiritually and in numbers
  • “Praise God for the church building’s completion. Pray for their outreach this month during the Buddhist water festival celebrations
  • “Pray for the children to learn ‘all they need to’, for Poppy who has just turned 13, and for Rosie to perform well in her exam … and for wisdom as they consider the next steps of education.”
